Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations facing crises threatening their survival, mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, natural disasters or exclusion of care. The French section of MSF is present in more than thirty countries.

As part of a replacement, we are looking for an Assistant of women‘s and child health trainings (M/F)

Mission:

This position sits within the Training Unit MSF-OCP and is under the responsibility of the Medical Pedagogical Coordinator (hierarchically) and the Head of the Medical Unit in Sydney (functionally). This position is responsible for the coordination of all trainings related to Women’s and Children’s Health and Care for Victims of Sexual Violence. This relates to MSF OCP specific trainings as well as to MSF intersectional trainings.

Activities and tasks:

General tasks:

The assistant is focal point and therefore responsible for coordination of needs assessment, planning, timely enrolment, smooth preparation and execution of all aspects of training courses in WH, SV and pediatrics/ newborn care:

  • Manages and updates all materials and tools used for organizing, implementing and evaluating

trainings

  • Is focal point in terms of processes and procedures related to the running of the trainings in the field, at regional and/or HQ level

  • Facilitates communication between all stakeholders to identify training needs, course selection and

establishment of list of trainees

  • Coordinates assessment and prioritization of requests for course sessions

  • Facilitates implementation of all training courses on HQ, regional and field level

  • Gathers feedback on the training sessions and participates to course evaluation process

  • Participates to the budget follow up of the trainings

  • Maintains course management system and database

  • Collects statistics

Definition of procedures & implementation:

  • Participates to the inventory and analysis of the functioning of the trainings, capitalizes the

information and shares it with relevant interlocutors

  • Participates in the setup of processes and procedures related to the functioning of the trainings

  • Shares the new procedures with all actors upon approval, is focal point for their implementation, revision and follow-up

Training organization:

The assistant plans and coordinates preparation for logistics (training site, equipment, material…) and other issues (training venue, visa, accommodation…) to ensure fluid training execution at HQ, regional and field level:

  • Communicates with the cells and the fields to investigate on the training needs on their projects, possible scheduling, target training population

  • Set up, follows up and adapts the training calendar taking in account availability of trainers, priorities and field constrains

  • Ensures departures and returns of trainers/facilitators are organized

  • For field-based and regional trainings liaises with the field to ensure adequate planning and logistics of course sessions

  • Ensures training material/equipment is sent to relevant training sites and returned.

  • Follows up the training material orders

  • Communicates with trainers regarding the organization, the participants’ list, the training material, the content of the training…

  • Helps in the organization (logistic, administrative) for HQ based trainings

Establishment and management of pool of trainers

  • Participates in the identification of new trainers

  • Establishes updates and maintains organization of pool of trainers (availability, rolling roster,

contracts…)

  • Ensures trainers have received appropriate training

  • Follows the individual assessments of the trainers

  • Briefs the trainers on organization of the trainings and on their role

  • Manages and is focal point for trainers on a one-year contract: work schedule, perdiem, paid leave, accommodation.

Profile:

MSF field and/or headquarter experience (6 months minimum) is required

Paramedical/Medical background/experience and experience in training are an asset.

Languages : English and French fluency required (written and spoken)

Skills and knowledge:

Excellent and demonstrated organizational skills

Ability and willingness to work autonomously and to take initiative

Good and demonstrated communication, networking and diplomacy skills

Good writing and editing skills

Solution-oriented thinking

Flexibility to adapt working hours based on the needs of communication with others offices and field.

Status: 12-month contract. Full time. Based in Paris (possible travels abroad but infrequent)

Salary conditions:

35,3 K € gross annual over 13 months. 22 days RTT per year. Complementary health supported 100% by Médecins Sans Frontières. Meal vouchers of 9€ (60% reimbursed by Médecins Sans Frontières). Support for 50% of the public transport subscription.
